Every November, there's this cool little torture pact writers make called "NaNoing". Basically, it's writing for thirty days straight. Of course, one doesn't spend all day every day writing - you're allowed to sleep and eat - but the goal is to write 50,000 words or more. Me? Fuck that, this year I'm shooting just to write. This year, I invite everyone to join me on this torture trek through literacy - Saint's Row Style!
With that all said, if you want to participate quietly (meaning you want to attempt it without telling us), I'm okay with that, but please remember that we are all here for you in case you get stuck, hit a wall, a character goes AWOL - whatever. We support each other 1000%! If you'd like some tools to help you get started, check out my Writing Materials thread - everything there is free to use. If you see something that interests you but you'd like some instructions or help using anything, again let me know. ^^ You can even email me. I'm here 24/7 for everyone who needs help.
Also, I'll post nifty NaNo tools I find on the net for you to download or refer to here:
- There are no rules. You can choose a story you're already writing or start a new one. You can even do a bunch of oneshots. No one will know what you're doing unless you tell us, and even then, if you change your mind before November 1st, none of us will judge you or bitch about it.
- There is no word count. You can do as much or as little as you want. If you simply want to get a chapter out, have at it. Trying to finish a fic? You go then, you bad mutha you. As long as you write something (because you can't really participate if you don't write) in the name of NaNoing, you're golden.
- You have to have fun. This is really the only thing I care about. If it's stressing you out, stop - writing should be fun. If it feels like a job, like working, and isn't exciting you, then seek help (I'm here for you) or wait until the stress goes away. You should be excited, should feel pumped up, or at least look forward to the day's writing (because some of you do like torture). This thread will be our check in, our group huddle, and support thread for those participating and we'll make sure that writing is fun, not a job.
